Over the last decade, an estimated 180 million people (almost 3% of the world’s population) have been forced into migration, and are living outside of their birth country.

Migration is caused by capitalist disaster; political conflict and war; ecological destruction; poverty; and ethnic, religious and gender persecution.

Au cours des derniers mois, le Service canadien du renseignement de sécurité (SCRS) et la Gendarmerie Royal du Canada (GRC) ont effectué plusieurs visites chez des militants et militantes à travers le Canada. Ces visites ont été effectuées dans le contexte des mobilisations contre les jeux olympiques à Vancouver et contre le Sommet du G8/G20 à Toronto. Certains groupes, ayant publiquement pris des positions contraires à l’agenda du gouvernement canadien, ont été particulièrement ciblés.

Le Premier ministre Stephen Harper a annoncé que le Sommet du G8 aura lieu en 2010 dans le centre de villégiature Deerhurst à Huntsville, en Ontario.
